Hair loss is common. But, it is difficult to find the right hair loss solution for you. Finally, hair transplant doctors have developed a simple, safe, medical procedure that is well-suited for treating hair loss in men and women. This new treatment is called PRP + ACell, and while its name may seem complex and technical, this is actually an easy, outpatient procedure that can be a great solution to hair loss challenges. Below is a simple Q&A to answer your basic questions about PRP + ACell. To learn more and to find out if you’re a candidate for this treatment, please call (502) 585-5251 to schedule a consultation with the Parsley-Waldman Hair Center at Advanced Dermatology.
So, what is it?
PRP + ACell hair loss treatment consists of a series of injections to the scalp, which work to preserve and thicken hair. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, and it consists of numerous growth factors. This treatment uses platelets extracted from the plasma in your blood, and injects them into areas of hair loss, to stimulate hair follicle thickening and growth.
How does it work?
First, one of our experienced staff will acquire a blood sample. Then, local anesthetics are applied to numb the scalp, and then PRP + ACell injections are administered. The whole process takes about 90 minutes.
Is this really an “outpatient” procedure?
Short answer – YES. You may experience a sore scalp for several days after the procedure, but you are free to resume normal activity immediately after treatment.
How soon will I see results?
You may begin to see results over the next several months. Full results will appear in conjunction with your typical hair growth cycle, which usually takes about four to eight months after treatment, and two to three sessions may be required. Follow-up appointments will be made to monitor growth. Results may vary by candidate. If you notice thinning after your injections, an update or booster injection series will help refresh results.
What if PRP + ACell doesn’t work for me?
No hair loss treatment is perfect, and there is a chance that you’re not a candidate for PRP + ACell. However, the Parsley-Waldman Hair Center offers a variety of other hair loss treatments that could be a good fit for you. Call today to learn more about the variety of services that we offer.
